9K a year We are looking for a motivated individual who will be responsible for managing accounts receivable balances, billing, follow-up and collection of assigned insurance claims; maintaining correspondence with carriers, and documentation regarding same; reviewing problem accounts and identifying necessary actions to be taken.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to reviewing daily charges for accuracy, submitting claims daily, posting electronic payments and following up on unpaid claims.
This is not a remote position but willing to be flexible with schedules.
Responsibilities:
Review and process claims electronically, assuring accuracy to avoid denials.
Accurately post insurance payments both electronically and manually.
Manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies.
Follow-up on outstanding claims in a timely manner, including filing appeals as necessary.
Issue and post payments, receipts, and invoices Allocate accounts receivable with new accounts or missed payments Create refunds for insurance companies and patients Maintain 10%-15% over 90 days self-pay accounts receivable Reviews the accounts Aging Analysis Report monthly to determine the accounts requiring immediate attention (60 days and over $500 balance are priority).
Analyze insurance explanation of benefits for posting and follow-up.
Monitor accounts receivable for insurances.
Assist patients with insurance/billing questions.
Respond to inquiries from provider offices and internal departments in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years medical billing experience, preferred.
A working knowledge of medical billing software and MS Office (particularly Excel).
Comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial information Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial rules and regulations.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and oral.
Pleasant, respectful, and empathetic personality and disposition.
Accuracy and management of multiple projects simultaneously.
CPC preferred, not required Strong understanding of medical terminology, especially ophthalmic procedures.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to be a team player.

High school diploma or GED Two years minimum experience in medical office; billing and collections experience preferred, but not required.
